Reuben Tour of Columbus – Dale’s Deli (Downtown)

Having just started working downtown, I’m now able to check out many of the downtown deli’s that I could never make it to on the weekends or in the evenings as the tended to close by the afternoon. Just so happens that Dale’s Deli is right around the corner from the new office, so I took a stroll over recently to check out what my new co-workers have been raving about.

Here’s the scorecard:

Corned Beef – good cut, generous amount
Sauerkraut – okay amount, not overly generous
Swiss Cheese – melted just right
Thousand Island – well-proportioned and tasty
Rye Bread – rye flavor was underwhelming, almost could have been wheat

I’m scoring Dale’s Deli at 3.5 out of 5. Not bad, but I deducted 1/2 a point for the bread and sauerkraut, and other 1/2 for the overall side of the sandwich, which felt a bit small compared to most deli reubens I’ve had.
