Repeat These Words After Me: Black Love by The Afghan Whigs
I tend to shy away these days from using words or phrases like greatest, most important, best, etc. when it comes to art, namely movies, books and music. As many who are deeply invested in such things, to apply such definitive tags to something subjective and personal gets tiresome.
Corona for the Cure Benefit Show 3.10.18
Last night I got a chance to do something I've always wanted to do - play a set of Afghan Whigs tunes live. Though my current occasional cover band gig is with RVM playing 1990s Pearl Jam tunes, lead singer and guitarist (and former The Stepford Five cohort) Keith Jenkins new outfit Rival Cities was set to take part in a benefit show called Corona for the Cure at the Big Room Bar, owned by CD102.5. Each set consisted of a band or solo performer covering a band or artists lost to cancer, with sets covering Warren Zevon, the Ramones, George Harrison, The Tragically Hip, David Bowie, and more.
Are You Making A Sound? The History of The Stepford Five is now available for order!
Nobody likes to wait, so I decided with the Kindle version of Are You Making A Sound? The History of The Stepford Five now available for pre-order, it was time to was time to do the same for the paperback version.
As of today, you can order a physical copy and, depending on which shipping option you choose, have it to you by the release date. If you have a Prime account, you'll actually get it a lot sooner than the release date. And if you have a Kindle Unlimited account, the book is available for free.
In addition to the photos in both versions of the book, over at the Stepford Five website, a number of bonus picture galleries are available to peruse.
And of course, if you enjoy it, please leave a review at Amazon and GoodReads. Thanks!

Pre-Order Are You Making A Sound? for Kindle Today
Quick note: Are You Making A Sound? The History of The Stepford Five won't be out until 3/20, however pre-orders are available for the Kindle version. The Kindle version is a bit different, as the format allows for full color pictures that the paperback version cannot. Well, it can, but I wanted the price low, so the paperback in black and white will be $9.99, as opposed to a full color version that was almost fifty bucks.
March SHREDNESS 2018 - Hair Metal Edition
I found out about this late, but managed to get my submission in under the wire. It's March SHREDNESS, Hair Metal Edition for 2018. Set-up like the college basketball playoff brackets, artists and songs are matched up to determine an ultimate winner, with entry entry getting an accompanying essay. Voting is open to everyone, and takes place every day until the winner is crowned in the final head to head match-up.
Of course, there are lots of power ballad options to vote for (hint hint), and if a power ballad or two makes it deep into the tournament, I might do some book giveaways or something to coincide. Stay tuned!
